Welcome
Well here it is.
Ive decided to post a blog about trying to return to competitive golf after 19 years off.
Right now my goals feel large but do-able.
In the upcoming season I hope to reduce my handicap by 4-5 strokes and see if I can quailfy for some of the top Amateur Events in the NYC/Long Island Area.
Currently I am a 6 handicap (my first since i was 17 whenI was a 4) and I play regularly at Bethpage State Park.
I played my first competitive round in July 2005 on the Michelob Ultra golf tour.
My last competition before that was the 1985 Canadian Junior Championship where I placed tied for 51 (scores of 77- 80-79- 83) at 17. I stopped playing totally that fall and played one or two rounds every few years for fun but never practiced until summer of 2004 when I began to hit balls again.
For the 2005 season I finished by participating in the Ultra Golf Tour's National Championship in Orlando Florida. I made the cut and finished tied for 8th in the Hogan Flight.
This will be a tough but fun road. Feel free to follow along and see how things go!
